No doubt it will have come to your attention over the past few months especially, that plastic pollution has hit an all time and frightening high. Stand Up Paddleboarding is very much an eco sport and in order for ourselves and future generations to enjoy SUP, and the oceans we are blessed with, we here at Waterborn will be running Paddle and Pick events twice monthly throughout the year to help rid the oceans of litter.
So for 2018 our Sunday Social Paddle club events will be replaced as Paddle and Pick events, still very much a social event for anyone who can already SUP but with the focus on finding and reducing litter from reaching our oceans.
In addition to this we have decided to stock cotton tote bags available for £3.00 per bag to use instead of plastic bags for supermarket shopping or as you see fit, they make great swimming or sports kit bags as well!
We are also encouraging others world wide to join us on SUPs to take any marine litter you find and making sure it is deposed of properly. Have you got a friend that has or uses a SUP? Get them involved and lets make a change right now!
Like our page and post a picture of you and your litter collection on your SUP (or once your ashore if unsafe) on our Facebook page, (Waterborn SUP) Twitter feed (@Waterborn_UK) or Instagram (@Waterborn_SUP) and use #PickitSUP and #WaterbornSUP with your photo along with where you are, and every Monday throughout 2018 we will pick a winner to receive a free Waterborn cotton tote bag with our thanks for making the ocean that little bit cleaner for us all!
We have also joined up with Hello Kingsbridge Goodbye Plastic to try and achieve Plastic Free status as part of the Surfers Against Sewage Scheme. You can take a look at upcoming developments here.
See you on the water!
